BSR Cable Park
The BSR Cable Park in Waco Texas opened in June 2012 and was quickly voted “Cable Park of the Year”, with good reason. It started out as a cable wakeboarding park but soon added a variety of attractions that now make it ideal for a fun-filled family day out.
The 12 acre main lake has six towers positioned around a central island for clockwise cable skiing, complete with obstacles. Other lakes allow for boat skiing and swimming. Newbies to wakeboarding can book one-on-one lessons but if you’re an experienced shredder (if you don’t know the term, then you’re not), you should test your skill on the bi-level lake. Be warned that if you’re wakeboarding on the main lake, you may be distracted by the family of lemurs living there!

Although BSR Cable Park gained its reputation from its wakeboarding, the latest addition has caused a surge in its popularity. The Royal Flush water slide may not be the longest in the world but it’s proving to be one of the most thrilling.
When the promo video hit YouTube in June last year, the sight of adventurous youths somersaulting through the air before belly flopping into a lake became a smash hit. The video received 12 million views in two weeks.
There are actually three slides. One is a standard water slide. The second is a little longer and steeper, with an upward slope at the bottom. The third slide is the notorious Royal Flush. At 100 feet long and with a serious ramp at its base, this is what everyone comes to see. Once you have built up speed plummeting down the slide, the ramp launches you high into the air at which point you can scream, backflip, turn somersaults or simply smash into the water.
Seeing the speed and height many people reach, you will understand why you are expected to sign an injury waiver before using any of the rides at BSR.

At the other end of the thrill spectrum is the lazy river. BSR claim it is the longest in the world at three quarters of a mile. The pumped water propels you along but it still takes about 45 minutes to complete one circuit. All children under 12 years old must wear a life jacket and as the water is only three foot deep, you can relax to soak up the sun and the scenery.
The tubes BSR supplies come with a cup holder and pillow, perfect for a relaxing journey. If you bring drinks and snacks along, BSR even rent out tubes just for the coolers!

As with all attractions, check out the Internet for specials before arriving. Recent ones have included girls-ride-free on Thursdays and college specials.
From zooming across a lake at breakneck speed on the end of a cable to sprawling out lazily on a beach, BSR Cable Park has a lot to offer. You can dine at the BSR Bar and Grill, play sand volleyball, soak in a hot tub, or rent a cabin and much more. It’s a great way to enjoy life under the Texan sun.
